to comment about those plans. they include harry reid, senator joe manchin, the only senator on that list that received a campaign contribution from the nra. what do you think is the big reason behind the division among senate democrats? >> well, in the studio i can't see the list you just put up, but just let me say that this is not a new issue. gun safety has been an issue that everybody deals with over the years and some have come to a conclusion on the issue. so it's -- the public, i think, has taken a different view of the issue after newtown. you had 20 children, bodies riddled with bullets. some of the previous positions may not hold. i think you've also got a situation where 75% of the public now support an assault weapons ban. but that's not the only issue before us. you have the size of the magazines. many people have suggested that the size of the magazine is more important an issue than the weapon. most of the mass shootings have been interrupted during the time they're trying to change magazines. and that gives you limiting the magazine i think may have more of an impact in t
